On Your Radar - March 12, 2019
Take yourself back to the days of dusty country roads, carefree summers, and your radio tuned to music that was soulful and authentic. Enter Plywood Cowboy, crafting songs ripe with these nostalgic comforts, yet perfectly suited for modern life. Called “one of the best new bands on the Americana scene” by New York Blues Hall of Fame Inductee Chris Bergson, their 2018 release, “Blue Skies”, earned a spot on the Grammy ballot in the Best Americana Album and Song categories.
Raised in the heart of New York City by two accomplished musical parents, singer-songwriter Sophie Buskin first set foot in the studio at four. She caught the harmony bug and began working extensively as a child jingle singer. In 2008 she was accepted into the Berklee College of Music in Boston and began to write her own songs. A decade later, Sophie is based in Brooklyn and regularly appears at NYC venues. Her first CD, “Sweet Creature”, is available on her website: www.sophiebuskinmusic.com
Imagine Belle with more grit. Add 150+ MLB National Anthem performances, multiple national tours (with appearances at the White House and Kennedy Center), and 8 years working with wildlife in the South African bush. That’s Genevieve, the charismatic chameleon songwriter whose timeless tunes have graced ads, movies, and TV shows worldwide. With the voice of a fallen angel and an adult contemporary aesthetic, her blend of classic and current styles puts her in a class all her own.
