Sunday Supper: 08/25/19

When I first met Elvis Costello in 1977, he was very much an Angry Young Man, but he’s long since mellowed. He married Diana Krall in 2003 and fathered twin sons in 2006. On Sunday he turns 65, and the Sunday Supper will tip a toe into the wide-ranging Costello catalogue.

I’ll also have a sampling of some new releases by Austin-based artists. And from Austin to Asbury Park, I’ll have a review of Blinded by the Light, the film about a young Pakistani immigrant in a small English town who becomes obsessed with the music of Bruce Springsteen. The soundtrack includes a new Springsteen song, “I’ll Stand by You,” which I’ll share.

“Radio is a sound salvation” every Sunday from 5-6 p.m. EDT at 90.7 FM/wfuv.org, as well as on demand in the Weekend Archives.
