Sunday Supper: 06/02/19

At 86, Willie Nelson is the indefatigable Energizer Bunny of country music, releasing an average of two albums a year. His latest, The Long Ride Home, is a collection of originals and covers. One of the standouts is his version of Guy Clark’s “My Favorite Picture of You.”  I’ll play it this week on the “Sunday Supper” and toss in another Guy Clark cover by Steve Earle for good measure.  Then, to stir the pot, a song from Hayes Carll’s fine CD, What It Is, co-produced by Allison Moorer, Steve’s ex and Hayes’ current girlfriend!

On the subject of married musical couples, we’ll have new music from The Levins, The Whispering Tree, and Over the Rhine, plus Van Morrison, David Wax Museum, Joe Crookston, and David Gray.

Enjoy the harmony, marital and otherwise, Sunday from 5-6 p.m. EDT or anytime in the eekend Archives.
