On Your Radar - January 2, 2024

John Platt's On Your Radar has a new venue, the legendary Bitter End NYC. We will return to second Tuesdays in February.

Joe Jencks sings with a lyric baritone voice that has the edgy richness of a good sea-salt caramel. A 25-year veteran of the international Folk circuit, an award-winning songwriter and celebrated vocalist based in the Chicago area, Joe delivers engaged musical narratives filled with heart, soul, groove, and grit. Jencks has penned several #1 Folksongs including the ever-relevant Lady of The Harbor. The Honey Badgers are a contemporary folk duo known for their intense, sparkling harmonies, their honest lyrics and melodies, and their undeniable chemistry on and off stage. Weaving their voices together Michael’s driving guitar and Erin’s wistful violin, The Honey Badgers spin stories and songs about finding yourself, finding each other, and finding your way in the world. They were showcase performers at the 2023 Falcon Ridge Folk Festival and winners of the 2023 Delaware Public Media Homey Award for Best Folk Song. https://www.honeybadgerfolk.com/

Songwriter Zoe Mulford is noted for her vivid storytelling, humor, and deep compassion. She backs her clear voice with guitar, piano, or claw-hammer banjo, conjuring a world in each tune. She is best known for "The President Sang Amazing Grace," remembering the 2015 racist attack at Emanuel AME Church in Charleston. The song was covered by Joan Baez and by Kronos Quartet, and won an International Folk Award for Song of the Year in 2018. https://zoemulford.com/
