NEMA's 2021 Songwriter of the Year Sarah King inhabits the dark side of Americana, creating "high-powered blues-Americana-rock" (Burlington Free Press) anchored by her atmospheric voice and rhythmic blues guitar. King's live show crackles with energy and devil-may-care attitude, earning her support slots for Blues Traveler, an official showcase at Folk Alliance in 2022, performances at the last three Philadelphia Folk Festivals, a night at legendary Caffe Lena in 2022, and a main stage slot at Black Bear Americana Fest 2021.

Arielle Silver was raised on folk festival fields and in woodsy-watery places up and down the Atlantic Seaboard. Now based in Southern California, she lives a traffic jam away from the Pacific. After a decade break from performing music to focus on creative writing and Eastern philosophy, her fourth album, “A Thousand Tiny Torches” (2020), is luminous, literate, and alive, with songs that crosscut exacting details of the seismic heartbreaks of ordinary life.
