New Folk Collective Farewell

Dear New Folk Collective Supporters:

We're sad to inform you that Fall 2008 was the last season for the NFC, and it has been dissolved as a formal organization.  A variety of factors, including the declining economy, smaller audiences, and dwindling numbers of volunteers to keep this all-volunteer organization in operation, made us realize that the New Folk Collective should be dissolved 

It has been our great honor and pleasure to present many wonderful performers to the Twin Cities audience.  We have managed to do this for well over 20 years, and we could not have done so without the loyal support of our wonderful audiences.

Dear Friends:

Even though NFC dissolved late in 2008, I have kept this domain alive for a couple of reasons.  First, it provides a place to let people look for information about Minnesota folk and acoustic music events.  Second, I also kept the New Folk Collective Announcements e-mail list alive, just in case an event which might be of interest to you comes up.  We've already used it to announce Bill Staines and Gordon Bok shows.

I'll keep the list going, since there are almost 500 people currently subscribed. You are of course always free to unsubscribe, but I hope you'll stay. There is no good way to spread the word about acoustic music in the Twin Cities, and maybe this will be the legacy of the New Folk Collective.

I would expect to send a message rarely, and once again, only because there is an event I think would interest our faithful NFC folks.

Please be assured that I am protecting the list, and it will not be passed along to others. The only way it can be used is through me as moderator. Since I was the webkeeper and listkeeper for NFC, I hope you'll trust me to keep this list going.
